Tips And Tricks For Newbie Gardener Success

By Sandra Heller

Choosing among all of the gardening tips and tricks out there can be difficult.

Remember, there is a lot more to growing your own garden than simply dropping seeds in dirt and watering them every few days.

Gardening takes attention. You need to put in some work and time. Most gardeners eventually realize that, in spite of all of the hard work it takes to grow things, gardening can be very fulfilling. If you've always dreamed of having a garden, use these tips to help you get started!

It is a good idea to put together a schedule to follow if you want to grow more than one type of plant. Write out the details of every plant's watering schedule. Map out a schedule for adding nutrients to the soils of your different plants. Map out all of the important stuff on a gardening calendar and then check that calendar every day for instructions. You could even plan your weeding times! The scheduling and mapping of each thing will help you make sure that you don't miss any steps. If you haven't ever grown a garden before, keeping the details on a calendar can help you make sure that you don't miss anything.

Believe it or not the purchasing of seeds is not required if you want to grow a garden. If you want to grow fruits and vegetables this is especially true. In the case of planting food (vegetables or fruits) usually all you need are a few pieces of whatever it is that you want to grow. Along with being their own seeds, vegetables and fruits often contain seeds that, when planted, will grow more of that fruit or vegetable. This is a fabulous way to grow a garden full of your favorite fruits and vegetables without having to deal with a bunch of seed packets (or the cost that goes with them).
